Weekly Photo Challenge: Family
This means family to me…precious grandchildren, doing things together as a family, and just enjoying the moment.
I started my day with a flat tire. I didn’t discover this until I was already at work. One of my coworkers pointed this out to me. Bummer. I had a mandatory training to attend in 40 minutes. I couldn’t let my car set there with my tire getting flatter. My coworker recommended this little tire place down the road. It was one of those places painted bright yellow with words painted all over the outside of the building. The windows were covered with iron gridwork to keep out any would-be robbers. The door had several large steel padlocks. I arrived a few minutes before 9 a.m. and they didn’t open until 9 a.m. The first worker arrived two minutes before nine and unlocked all of the padlocks, the other two employees arrived around 9:05 a.m. However, my tire was fixed and I was on my way and made it to my mandatory training with five minutes to spare. They fixed my tire, gave me a 30 day warranty, and only charged me ten dollars! This is a place I would never have sought out on my own, but since it was recommended by one of my coworkers, I gave it a try! The guys were very nice and polite in spite of their looks and I was very pleased. Just like the seagull in this picture was very pleased with his lunch of sea anemone, prickly on the outside, but yummy on the inside. Hmm….I guess the moral of the story is “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”.
There I was…waiting… for the tide to come in and for my master to claim me. Waiting peacefully, and calmly, knowing that he would come as sure as the sun rises and the moon sets every day.
It reminds me of the verse…Be still… and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10.

It’s always fascinating to watch the misty fog roll in. Before your very eyes the islands disappear, the trees, the rocks, and suddenly all you see is a dense fog-covered ocean. My yearly trek to Maine’s coast is always rewarded by some fog. I love it! Later, the sun comes out and clears all the fog away. Once again we see the islands, rocks and trees. Isn’t that what God says in the Bible…Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror but then (when God the Father takes us to heaven) we will see everything with perfect clarity. (I Cor. 13:12, NLV).
The sun was rising and I saw that the tide was out. It was dry under the dock, so I went exploring. I discovered this old rusty marine hardware…the sun highlighted it and I snapped the photo. I am not sure why I am attracted to things like this, however, I have found later when browsing through my pictures, it is these odd pics that I really like. It tells a story…something about what happened here at some point in time. Most of the time this was completely covered by water and not seen by anyone, yet it was there.
